This week's theme is...
GUY ON THE COVER!

Oh I have been wanting to do this one so much. I get to admire guys on the covers of some great books for a reason, lol. For my first book cover and I have been waiting for an opportunity to use it since I started this meme, fairly recent book very popular throughout booktube, aka youtube, and bloggers alike.

Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)
Ok so technically its only that very, very nice bicep and a little of his chest but its VERY clearly a guy, lol. Why I like, ummm, Hello! you'd have to be blind not to like
<<<<<<<<<<  I swoon sometimes just looking at it, I would love to have that arm around me. And then knowing that its 'Travis' of course helps. So other than that I also like the background and the font of the title. Most importantly the tattoo I love that they carried over the butterfly from Beautiful Disaster so that there is a common asset linking to the books. It's also cool how they did half of it as a tattoo and the other not a tattoo and the detail of it, the wavy lines for the tattoo and the beep blue for the 'real' part of the butterfly.

Awakened (House of Night, #8)

Ok so sue me I'm a sucker for tattoo's and biceps. Not to mention the whole dark angel thing going on I love the wings, the dark kinda fog like background, the emblems.

My next one is fully clothed I promise, lol.

Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter companion novel)   Can anyone say tall, dark, and from another time period, yum. As promised he's fully clothed and trust me I almost couldn't keep that promise because WOW are there a lot of shirtless guy covers, correction sometimes, sometimes pantless too. *fans myself*         But on to why I like This cover love the colors, leaves you with a mystery.

Who else is drooling, lol. What covers would you pick?~

A Witch Going Home

I received this book from Bookprservices for review. Wind and Shadow by Tori L. Ridgewood There's actually a short story prequel to this that I didn't know relies till after I was reading it and I would suggest reading it, though you don't have to before this one, after all I didn't. I've been looking for the prequel on its own its called Mist and Midnight by Tori L. Ridgewood but it apparently in a book with other short stories and not that I have anything against short stories but I'd like to just read that one.

Wind and Shadow (The Talbot Trilogy, Book 1)
I am so glad I read this at this time of year it is a perfect Halloween book almost everything you can ask for when it comes to Halloween, natural witches, vampires(the old-fashioned type of vampire), romance, spells and rituals, little bit of action and nicely placed humor too. Oh and get this the timeline is even at Halloween *squeal*. So really the only thing missing is werewolves but that's ok, lol. It's only the first book in the new trilogy so who knows maybe in the next book there might be.

Its goes between the two main characters, should of been high school sweethearts but neither one had the courage to ask the other out Rayvin Woods (sidenote I just realized the last name is part of the authors last name, sweet.), natural witch, and Grant Michaels, handsome, very well fit, police officer.
Rayvin goes back to her small home town of Talbot after leaving ten years ago because she was accused of attempted murder. It talks quite a bit about this 'attempted murder', of which she is completely innocent, in the beginning but you don't actually know what happened till almost half way through, what I don't get is why she didn't claim self defense because that's what it was and I say the person got what they deserved. She's very guarded hasn't had many good relationships but its made her strong.
Grant, along with most of the town, believes Rayvin to be capable of murder, however that doesn't stop the feelings he's had for her since high school to come up on full blast, so he's conflicted with what he feels and what he thinks.
"What’s done is done. You have to move on, Grant. You can’t live by holding onto past grudges. Too much damage has already been done. Let it go."
"I wonder—if it had been your best friend," he’d challenged, rising to her eye level. "If you’d feel the same way?"
Andrea looked at him coolly. "Not all permanent injuries are visible, Grant Michaels."
There's quite a bit repeating mainly at the beginning, and I wish there was more dialog, but I loved what dialog was there, and more into the supporting characters like Andrea I wanted to see more of her. I think we'll see more in the next one though. However with that said I like the attention Tori gave to the life of a wiccan, its so much more than just spells and magic and she brought that in. There's a lot of attention to everything actually, the town and places, Rayvin's sacred place.

What seems to be coincidental upon Rayvin's arrival a series of events happen Grants vows to keep an eye on her, though not just for a professional reason. When he realizes after seeing her with her best friend and almost sister, Andrea, in the hospital that she may not be the cause but she may be the only person who can help. And so they try to work well with each other however with pint up sexual feelings for each other and the fact that their are both stubborn to believe the other especially when they say blatantly how they feel and what's going on, so there's also a lot of mistrust between them I think more so with Rayvin giving her history with men, not that I blame her, but when Grant practically lays his heart out to her she still wants to question him. I swear sometimes I wanted to slap the both of them up the back of their head and yell at them, 'What the hell enough with the bloody mistrust you both love each other stop picking fights and thinking you cant trust the other." And the sexual tension.....ugh, well they do in fact have a passionate night together but then Grant goes and ruins it by thinking with head, yes his actual head not the other one, and not believing what he saw right in front of him or his heart.

On to the Vampire, De Sade, devilishly handsome love to hate, you really don't see much of him till like the third quarter of the book where you see most of the action. He's escaped from a entrapment, which he was able to due to an event that followed Rayvin arrival and he causes the other events. De Sade has a plan, he's raising a coven, making vampires, of the towns people but not just anyone most the people whom Rayvin comes in contact with who's not lashing out at her about what happened ten years ago is who he's turning into a vampire, and an evil son-of-a-bitch who deserves to be rotting instead of being undead. But you cant have a good vs. evil book with out a few good villains. Not only does he want a coven he wants a witch to reproduce with.

So by the end Grant and Rayvin try and stop De Sade however things don't end up that good and Rayvin has to do something to save Grants life. I don't want to give the ending away but its so hard not to and explain how I felt about it. But I will say I'm mad at Grant for doing what he does. It definitely leaves you with a cliff hanger, so if you go and get now and read it your warned you'll be waiting like me tapping you finger on the arm rest of the couch. So please let this wait be quick.

I cant wait for book two Blood and Fire to come out, I think there's only one possibility about certain something we find out at the very end given certain facts and how fast effects accrue, if you've read or plan on reading it let me know what you think about that 'something'. ~

Cover Love Sunday #5

Cover Love Sunday is a weekly feature hosted at The Quiet Girl Talks, where you choose your 3 favorite covers for each weekly theme. Anybody can do it, just check the Features page for themes ahead of time! :)

This week's theme is...
SIMPLE COVERS!

Simple Covers I love a good simple cover they can speak so much louder sometimes than a more elaborate cover don't you think? A piece of silk, a flower, butterfly, a dagger, or even just a letter even without a lot else going on the background. A simple silk gray tie, hint, hint, I know you know what book I'm talking about with that one.

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)  Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2)       Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3)

Yes Fifty Shades...hey their simple covers aren't they, lol. Elaborate reads but simple covers I love that each one has something that you'll see in the book. Christian's oh-so-famous tie, the mask Ana wears to the party, and handcuffs which can actually represent two different happenings in the book one a every sexual scene the other when someone goes to jail. I don't suggest reading them if your single or don't have a 'special' friend though you wont like that frustration, lol.

Ironside (Modern Faerie Tales, #3)
I've read Tithe it was the cover that always attracted me to it whenever I was it however it was hard to get into. I haven't read Valiant or Ironside but do want to I like all the covers but this in is my favorite their all simple this one two though there is a bit of detail in the background but I think it can still pas for simple I love that crown just love it the colors are so vibrant. I read synopsis of this one and Roiben is getting coronated in the faerie realm so its only fitting the theres a crown on the cover.

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)

I've heard some good things about this book apparently its a future telling retelling of Cinderella I like that theres like a spot light on the leg and  black everywhere else and that you can see in the leg. I also like the font for the title.  The other cover are nice to but thought this one more 'simple'

Well those are my picks this week what are the simple covers you would pick?

Wonderfully Wicked Read-A-Thon

This post I'll be updating each day with my reads during the read-a-thon.

WWReadathon
This read-a-thon is hosted by My Shelf Confessions and there is still plenty of time to sign up!

Goals
  • Visit and comment at least 4 other blogs a day
  • Read at least 8 books(including short e-books)
  • Hopefully do a challenge

Updates

Oct 11th - Finished last 120 pages (or so, I think) of Bonded by Nicky Charles. I didn't know about the read-a-thon till later in the day so I didn't visit any blog

Oct 12th - I was mostly typing up a post and going about on goodreads for most of the day and I was busy with a few other things aswell so I didn't get hardly any reading in.

Oct 13th - Finished last 100 pages of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, been rereading it off and on so thought what better time than in between books and to get over how Bonded ended to finish it.

Oct. 14th - 15th - Well I am finding it hard to stay motivated this read-a-thon I don't why, and in fact I've been very, very tired especially yesterday so sorry to say but I didn't get very much reading in the past couple days. But I plan on making up for that today already have my coffee and hopefully I read a whole e-book today.

Oct. 16th - Didn't read Wind and Shadow by Tori L. Redgwood as fast as I wanted to but I got about half done. But was enjoying it

Oct. 17th - Read other half of Wind and Shadow will have a review soon. Since I was trying to dedicate all my time to read to make up for not reading I didn't go to any blog I plan on going to some today.

Oct. 18th - I did visit a few blogs will list below. Did the Jigsaw Challenge. Didn't read much had to help a neighbor with something, actually helping my neighbor was one reason why I have read or went to many blogs much this week.

Oct. 19 - There were a few thing in Wind and Shadow I want to reread make sure I understood what I was reading after I got to thinking about it, you how sometime if your reading a book a bit fast does anyone else feel like they missed something after a while and feel like you have to go back, or is it just me, please don't let it just be me.

Oct. 20th - Today is the last day and I'm going to visit some blogs for the most part as well as write my review for Wind and Shadow cant believe I read only one full book and only finished the other 2 but I suppose with how many pages I read from those two book it could count as one full book as well. And hey they did stick to the theme of the read-a-thon I thought. After all it's October, theres a witch on the read-a-thon button. The books I read Bonded was about lycans(werewolves), Harry Potter ofcourse we all know that witches and wizards. And Wind and Shadow is really a Halloween read which I'll elaborate more in my review why, but it had witches and vampires.
